A Frozen Mudslide is a classic mudslide cocktail blended with vanilla ice cream and ice cubes. Chocolate syrup can be added to make it a completely decadent and boozy adult milkshake cocktail.
February 27th is National Kahlúa Day. Celebrate by making a frozen mudslide! You can also celebrate by making homemade Kahlúa, drinking Kahlúa on ice, baking it into a dessert such as Kahlúa brownies, or using it as a topping for ice cream, pie or cake.
How to make a classic Mudslide:
If you don’t want to make a frozen mudslide, you can make a classic mudslide cocktail instead. Add a few cubes of ice to a glass. Pour 1 ounce Kahlúa, 1 ounce vodka and 1 ounce Irish cream liqueur over the ice. Give it a stir, and you’ve got yourself a mudslide!
The History of Kahlúa:
Kahlúa was born in Mexico in 1936. In 1940, it made its way into the United States. In 1955, the White Russian cocktail was invented in Oakland, California. And by 1980, Kahlúa became the #1 selling coffee liqueur in the world (and it remains so today!)
Ingredients needed:
- Kahlúa
- Vodka
- Irish cream liqueur
- vanilla ice cream
- ice cubes
- chocolate syrup
How to make a Frozen Mudslide:
Add the kahlúa, vodka and Irish cream to your blender jar. Then add in some ice cubes.
Add vanilla ice cream, and blend until smooth.
Drizzle chocolate syrup into a tall glass. A hurricane glass works best, but any tall glass that’s appropriate for serving a milkshake will do. Pour the frozen mudslide into the glass.
Serve your frozen mudslides with straws. Or if it’s super thick, you can serve it with a spoon instead. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 ounce kahlua
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1 ounce Irish cream liqueur
- 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup ice
- chocolate syrup
Instructions
- To a blender container, add Kahlua, vodka, Irish cream liqueur and vanilla ice cream. Add ice cubes. Blend until smooth.
- If you have a hurricane glass or another tall glass, use that. Swirl chocolate into the glass, and pour the frozen mudslide inside the glass. Serve with a straw or a spoon.
