The History of Prosecco:

Prosecco, a popular sparkling wine, has a rich history rooted in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. Grapes have been cultivated there for centuries, and sparkling wines were known as early as the 16th century.

Prosecco as we know it today began to take shape in the late 19th century. The Glera grape, which is the primary grape variety used in Prosecco production, became widely cultivated in the Prosecco region.

The Prosecco wine industry really started to develop in the early 20th century. By the 1960s, the production methods and techniques for making Prosecco had been more standardized, and it gained popularity.

Throughout the late 20th and early 21st centuries, Prosecco gained international recognition and popularity. Its light, fruity flavor profile and affordability made it a favorite in many countries around the world.

Today, Prosecco continues to be one of the most popular sparkling wines globally. Its production has increased significantly, with Italy leading the way in both consumption and exportation.
